Seeing Art with Fresh Eyes Gallery Visit
Sunday 12th May 2019
10.30am – 2.30pm
The National Gallery Sainsbury Wing
It is really difficult to look at works of art we have seen many times over with different perceptions. Emblazoned on chocolate boxes, tea towels and duplicated a million times over we have seen Monet’s Water Lilies, Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa and many, many more. But taking time with an image, really delving into its story as well as its history brings us closer to it and into what many artists have described as a participation. We are able to listen to its own language and at the same time, can re-acquaint ourselves with our innate ability to really see, look and observe.
Note: If you have accessibility needs, the gallery does have a lift.
